BHP - Billiton BMS System for Energy Management

posted on

Green Wave Automation has been selected to design and install a BMS system at BHP Billiton's new ED - Village in Richard's Bay.

We designed a BMS system that meets all Rainbow Technologies requirements to meet a Green Building rating. Energy / Facilitiy management is a priority, which is achieved by integrating all 3rd party utilities onto one user friendly web based BMS platform. As Partners of Schneider Electric, we use the TAC vista solution, which we have successfully installed in other blue chip projects such as CELL C, Lafarge, Menlyn Corporate Park and BDO.

The system will integrate with the following equipment:

  • HVAC (air-conditioner)
  • Lighting
  • Generator
  • UPS
  • Power meters
  • Water meters
  • Temperature sensors

Benefits include:

  • Breakdown of electricity usage per area
  • Live data allows for power quality and usage trend analysis
  • Peak demand management of chillers, lowering kVA demand
  • Time of use management of chillers
  • Advanced lighting control
  • Outside lights controlled according to Lux levels
  • Remote access from any location via the web
  • Modular to allow for multiple site extension or additional controls
  • No yearly licence fee
  • No extra hardware or PC costs
